機械メーカーのEibunLetter Electronics社は，ある製品の値上げすることになり，販売店のE-Technology社にたいして価格値上げ通知をします．

Dear Mr. Lazaro,

RE: Change in machine prices effective September 1, 2006

This is to announce that EibunLetter Electronics, Inc decided to increase all machine prices due to the following reasons:

  1. Recent increase in the oil price leads to the higher traspotation and parts costs.
  2. Weaker U.S. currency against Japanese Yen.

Although we have not increased our standard prices for the last several years, we regret that we are forced to make such a decision at this time.

The new standard prices, Ex-warehouse in Los Angeles, are as follows:

O-942 $1,019.60 $1,049.60
O-944 $1,159.80 $1,189.80

The new standard prices will be in effect for all machine shippments after September 1, 2006.

エコム社の値上げ通知とは違って，今回のつかみでは価格値上げとその理由をシンプルに伝えます．値上げにいたった理由として，原油高と為替レートの2点を挙げています．生産コストの上昇なんていえば，メーカー努力が足りないといわれるのがオチなので，販売店から反発されるようなことは書かないよう気をつけましょう．
